As you can see in the before photos of the guest bathroom the bathroom didn’t appear to be completely original. The wall covering, flooring, and glass block wall at one end of the tub were added about 10+ years ago. In addition to the bathroom being dated in color and style, the tub showed signs of rust stains and the grout of the tile flooring was well worn. The San Diego bathroom remodel for this space called for a new floor tile, new tile from the tub to the ceiling, updated paint and colors, and refinishing of the tub and counter top.

For this San Diego bathroom remodel the shower walls were tiled in white subway tile from Arizona Tile. Flooring tile and trim pieces were also readily acquired from Arizona Tile and are of excellent quality at an affordable price. In fact, this entire bathroom remodel was very affordable as bathroom remodels go. The most expensive feature of the remodel was the custom shower door with the glass return pane.

In the before photos you can see the glass block wall, which wasn’t structurally sound and wouldn’t support a shower door attached to it. The client agreed with the idea of replacing the glass block wall with a clear glass panel. We subcontracted with Pacifica Glass Company, a company with whom I’ve worked with in the past, to provide the frameless, thick-glass shower door and panel. While this feature was an unexpected one, the end result is remarkable.
